MHE-Demag Indonesia Fulfils BP’s Maintenance Safety Requirements
MHE-Demag Indonesia delivers two explosion-proof cranes for maintenance support at natural gas production plant.
British Petroleum, or better boldenone undecylenate known as BP, is one of the world’s leading integrated oil and gas companies. They provide fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, and lubricants globally, with an established presence in Indonesia since 2009.
One of BP’s biggest projects in the region is the Tangguh LNG project. It comprises of the development of six gas fields in the Wiriagar, Berau and Muturi Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) in Bintuni Bay, Papua Barat.
As Tangguh LNG produces natural gas, all equipment and tools must comply with stringent explosion proof classifications, as well as with BP’s requirement for EHS (Environment Health Safety) standards. Hence, the acquisition of top quality products via a reliable crane supplier was imperative.
MHE-Demag Indonesia was tasked with delivering two units of 10-tonne complete ATEX-certified explosion-proof cranes. Both cranes would be used for periodical maintenance in the natural gas production plant in the assembling and disassembling of gas turbine components.
Since the production shutdown time for maintenance was very tight, speed of operation was of the essence. It was the intention of BP’s maintenance division to avoid any form of breakdown during the plant shutdown period. MHE’s explosion-proof cranes met this expectation successfully, which allowed the plant maintenance division to carry out its duties without any setbacks.
Supported by MHE-Demag’s country-specific explosion-proof strategy, the project was carried out in September 2015 and completed in April 2016.
