MHE-Demag Singapore’s First Test Cell Monorail System to United Kingdom
MHE-Demag Singapore delivers expertise on hoists and monorail system to AeroSystems Engineering
MHE-Demag Singapore received an order from AeroSystems Engineering, Inc. (ASE) to provide material handling equipment for their upgrading test cell facility project at GE Caledonian Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland.
ASE is a multi-discipline engineering and design company specialising in turnkey solutions for the aviation industry, who had previously contracted MHE-Demag Singapore as its material handling supplier on several test cell projects, including Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace), China Airlines and ST Aerospace (Xiamen project). The current commission was MHE-Demag Singapore’s first test cell lift system to be delivered to the United Kingdom.
ASE requested for a carrier system with two hoists and a tractor mechanism to drive the assembly along the monorail. MHE-Demag answered with a proposal for a driving mechanism consisting of an overhead travel drive mounted onto the hoist carriages.
The scope of work comprised the design, delivery, installation and commissioning of two 10 + 10t Demag EUDR Pro 10 wire rope hoists complete with an 18m monorail structure designed to accommodate the loading of the hoists, and one set of 20t auto-grab capable of interlocking with the ASE engine. Following the delivery of the components, installation and after-sales service were provided by Demag Cranes & Components UK (DCC UK).
MHE-Demag Singapore’s senior sales engineer, Lawrence Hong, who was working closely with DCC UK and ASE commented, “We could feel the synergy between MHE-Demag and Demag Cranes & Components as we worked together, combining technical know-how and after-sales customer care to improve the client’s experience and expectations.”
