Rigging Systems

One of the most common types of rigging system is the Socket and Davit system.
The sockets or the pedestals are installed permanently on the building, either to the roof slab or onto the RC parapet wall. The spacing of the sockets is dependent on the gondola cradle's length.
1 or 2 davit arms are needed for gondola operation. A single winch cradle requires one davit arm and a two winch cradle requires two davit arms. The davit arm is normally shared with all sockets within the same roof by manual transfer from one socket to the other, therefore the weight of the davit arm is an important criteria in the design the davit arm.
We recommend a maximum 2.5 m outreach for ground launch operation with a low profile davit arm. Should we need to offer a high profile davit arm to roof launch the gondola cradle, the davit arm outreach should not be more than 1.8 m.
All sockets and davits are hot dipped galvanised to finish.
