Rapid modernisation of public transportation systems is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One of the biggest construction project in Malaysia is the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit System (KVMRT), which aims to boost the overall integration and efficiency of urban public transport in Klang Valley area. The 3-line 150 km Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system comprises of two northeast-southwest radial lines and one circle line looping around Kuala Lumpur city.
To ease congestion at the MRT stations, a total of 192 feeder buses are now on the road servicing major routes. Feeder bus maintenance depots were built to ensure all buses are in pristine condition. MHE-Demag supplied two units of electro-hydraulic pantograph lifts (with lifting capacity of 25,000 kg each) to lift feeder buses for general inspection and maintenance work.
There are some key features to highlight, such as the mechanical locks on each cylinder, photo sensors for runways levelling control, acoustic warning, by-pass key, etc.
MHE-Demag Malaysia is the first in the region to supply these unique hydraulic pantograph lifts. Since the construction MRT Line 2 is under way, more pantograph lifts are expected to be supplied to fulfil the increasing needs.
